Dr. Seuss at War
Posted by madameblogalot at 10:05 am in Uncategorized

I just found out that Dr. Seuss was a political cartoonist for the New York newspaper PM during the WWII years. There is currently an display at our local holocaust museum exhibiting Seuss’s work. He focused on how America could get informed and involved as individuals. Many of the cartoons have to do with buying war bonds. I also found several aimed at Lindbergh and also America’s uninvolvement. His work carries his Dr. Seuss style in all of the cartoons. I found it very interesting and will try to get up to the museum to see the exhibit, based on the book Dr. Seuss Goes to War by Richard Minear. You can see some of the cartoons online at this website . Be sure to click on the year index at the top left corner to see more.

customizable gift cards
Posted by madameblogalot at 10:02 am in home, kids & family, life, something new

Last year a friend of ours gave us a Visa gift card. This is a pretty cool gift because the card can be used anywhere that Visa is accepted, making it useful at many places. This is ideal as opposed to getting or giving a card for a particular location that the receiver does not patronize (I hate it when that happens!)

Since teens love getting gift cards, these Visa gift cards make perfect gifts for them. They can take it to the mall and use it just about anywhere. And the cool thing is that you can even personalize these gift cards! Using the Gift Card Lab you can upload photos, graphics or art to design your very own custom gift card! Talk about cool!!
