When I began my blog, I did so hoping that I would be able to use the format for another spot to log in my thoughts. I also hoped that having a custom domain would be a better place to host sponsored posts as well. I do like to write ads to make a few bucks and will do so from time to time as they interest me and as they fit in with my blog. In beginning my blog, I realize that I never did include a disclosure policy that outright states that this blog will contain these posts written for pay. So in order to rectify the situation, I want to let it be known now and forever more that I will be writing these sponsored ads. If you go back over my history I am sure you will be able to pick out a few of these.

I do actually like writing these posts and I love the “mad money” it gives me. I have been able to use it for things like school books and Christmas presents! So, in the future you will continue to see sponsored posts here. I will write my own opinions about the products and services and will only take opportunities as they interest me.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming…

Christmas in the World
Posted by madameblogalot at 1:50 pm in home, kids & family, just for fun

Six years ago we went to Walt Disney World the week just after Thanksgiving. That was one of our best loved vacations. The kids were nine and six, perfect ages to enjoy lots of the attractions, and still young enough to believe in some of the magic.

We have some friends who are leaving next week to take their vivacious five year old daughter to the World. I know they will have a wonderful time touring the parks and seeing the wonderful way that Disney decorates for the holidays. In hearing them prepare for their trip, it brings back such great memories.

From the moment we purchased our Disney world tickets the magic began. At the time, our daughter did not believe we were really going, and actually had no real concept of what the World was like. We have been trying to tell our friends about all the great stuff to see and do at this time of year. They have their tickets and reservations for all they want to do, including Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

The party is a special feature for guests who have purchased tickets to the festivities. There are special shows, photograph areas, and cookies and cocoa are included in the ticket. It has even been said to snow during this special party! I can’t wait til our friends return with all their great stories, photos and their own special memories!

Spam Me
Posted by madameblogalot at 1:41 pm in something new

When I first began my custom blogs, I got quite a bit of spam comments. But lately, I have been inundated with spam content. It was getting to the point where it was hard to keep up with. I’d have to check it several times a day just to keep up with all I had to delete. I soon realized that I had never activated the Akismet plug in feature. It was easy to do and gave instructions on how to set it up. Once I filled in my key code, it was set up and I have not received a spam comment since!

Dr. Seuss at War
Posted by madameblogalot at 10:05 am in Uncategorized

I just found out that Dr. Seuss was a political cartoonist for the New York newspaper PM during the WWII years. There is currently an display at our local holocaust museum exhibiting Seuss’s work. He focused on how America could get informed and involved as individuals. Many of the cartoons have to do with buying war bonds. I also found several aimed at Lindbergh and also America’s uninvolvement. His work carries his Dr. Seuss style in all of the cartoons. I found it very interesting and will try to get up to the museum to see the exhibit, based on the book Dr. Seuss Goes to War by Richard Minear. You can see some of the cartoons online at this website . Be sure to click on the year index at the top left corner to see more.

customizable gift cards
Posted by madameblogalot at 10:02 am in home, kids & family, life, something new

Last year a friend of ours gave us a Visa gift card. This is a pretty cool gift because the card can be used anywhere that Visa is accepted, making it useful at many places. This is ideal as opposed to getting or giving a card for a particular location that the receiver does not patronize (I hate it when that happens!)

Since teens love getting gift cards, these Visa gift cards make perfect gifts for them. They can take it to the mall and use it just about anywhere. And the cool thing is that you can even personalize these gift cards! Using the Gift Card Lab you can upload photos, graphics or art to design your very own custom gift card! Talk about cool!!
