Last year a friend of ours gave us a Visa gift card. This is a pretty cool gift because the card can be used anywhere that Visa is accepted, making it useful at many places. This is ideal as opposed to getting or giving a card for a particular location that the receiver does not patronize (I hate it when that happens!)
