all alone

With my family gone for a week, there are lots of folks who think I am enjoying my time all alone. Not so much. I have a lonely feeling. Though I know I will get caught up on blogging and reading and maybe getting school ready. But the one thing that haunts me is what my daughter said this morning. She said I will be glad they are all gone, since all I do is gripe about how they never do anything right. Wow. I guess I need to spend my time alone readjusting my attitude!

  1. Now that’s some interesting feedback that’s good to have! Looks like a perception that you were not aware of.

  2. yeah, it makes me sad. I know she has hit the teen years, but….I did find a mom’s devotional book that I will spend time with this week. hopefully it will help point me in the right direction. that and the adage that “absence makes the heart grow fonder….”

  3. As much as it can sting, it is good to be made aware every now and then how we are being perceived by those closest to us. Try not to take what your daughter said too hard, though–unfortunately, part of being a mom is guiding kids so that they stay on track…something they may not always appreciate until they are grown and parents themselves.

  4. thanks beth. I have been trying to regroup, but not very well, considering two midnight runs half way to San Antonio! but yes, I think it’s important for me to know how I look to her, and also taken in stride w/ the fact that she’s a young teen!
