an alternative to military school

It has really been a rough school year for some kids. I know more than one struggling teen. There is so much that our kids face today. One of my son’s friends lost his mother last summer. This has been a very trying year for him. My son has had lots of garbage come down on him recently. Kids threaten each other if one is thought to have “snitched” on a wrong doing (even a crime!) One even gave up hope recently. And all this is on top of the regular pressure to perform in the area of grades, extra curricular activities and peer pressure! It is no wonder that many teens struggle and even resort to acting out. Some times they just don’t know what to do, how to act, or where to turn for help. I think the same can be said for the parent’s of teens! We all hurt when our kids struggle. At times, we don’t know what to do, how to act, or where to turn for help. We may even think putting our kid in military school is the answer! I came across a website for an alternative to help parents, and others raising children, deal with some of the ways kids react to the pressures around them. It is based on behavior modification and will likely be cheaper than military school!

  1. It’s too bad to see the frenzy and pressure and confusion we seem to have brought upon ourselves lately affect the kids. This really should be a great time for teens to enjoy before they must the responsibilities of adulthood. I wish society had not given up on the simple pleasure of just being alive!

  2. it really is sad. even the stuff that is supposed to be fun has had lots of the fun taken out of it (sports, etc) due to the competition and pressure placed on the kids by coaches. lots of kids in sports are getting burned out or even seriously injured due to these types pressures. and choosing courses for the next school year is enough to put some kids over the edge! the pressure to perform to help your class rank, etc takes out a lot of the joy of learning and taking classes that interest you….maybe we need some time on some of those mountaintops of yours montucky!

  3. Yes, I think we need those mountains more than ever! And he kids need to know the unbridled joy of being kids!

  4. the joy of being a kid is getting quashed at earlier and earlier ages it seems…
