I just found out that Dr. Seuss was a political cartoonist for the New York newspaper PM during the WWII years. There is currently an display at our local holocaust museum exhibiting Seuss’s work. He focused on how America could get informed and involved as individuals. Many of the cartoons have to do with buying war bonds. I also found several aimed at Lindbergh and also America’s uninvolvement. His work carries his Dr. Seuss style in all of the cartoons. I found it very interesting and will try to get up to the museum to see the exhibit, based on the book Dr. Seuss Goes to War by Richard Minear. You can see some of the cartoons online at this website . Be sure to click on the year index at the top left corner to see more.
